Hot Stone Therapy Bed

Our Bed of smooth river and ocean basalt mirrors an ancient technique of heat exchange between the muscle tissue of the body, the spinal cord and the stones. The hot stone bed encourages a softening of the muscle tissue, relaxation and a learning relationship with our symptoms and pain. The minerals and crystals embedded in the basalt support an expansive healing experience.

Copper Tub Soak

Our double bench Japanese Copper soaking tub amplifies an alchemical exchange between the native plant medicine infused in the water and the body, encouraging lymphatic movement, muscle relaxation and deep tissue hydration.

Native Plant Apothecary

We offer a wonderment of medicinal tea blending potential and Spa soaking inspiration. We pull the strong saltly and mineral holding plants from the Apothecary shelves to prepare the poured infusions for the copper soaking tub and encourage blend designing for symptoms and relaxation. While you're in, have a cup of authentic housemade chai, yerba maté with cream, or a smoothie. See our full drink menu here.We hope to see you soon.

About Us

We are April and Tyler Dunbar, co-owners of Native Plant Spa.Living in mystical Taos, New Mexico—feet on the ground in a “taos lifestyle"—there is a necessary practice of reciprocation offered between the natural elements and doing business within this extravagant terrain.Native Plant Spa is built on blessings from the forest, a sacred give and take with the trees harvested to create the spa, a quiet listening to the wild plants that navigate the healing, an unspoken language with the ancient minerals, and a learned flexibility with the Taos economy. We spend much of our energy wild harvesting in the mountains and allowing the visions from the landscape to flow through the spa.Read here to learn more about our backgrounds.

April Dunbar

April has a background in Eastern Medicine and practiced as an ayurvedic specialist and teacher for many years prior to dedicating herself to learning the plant medicine of Northern New Mexico. Over time, the Taos region has given April the opportunity to learn the local plants for the disease pathways of the body and ultimately providing a broad prescription for healing with the wild medicine. The Native Plant Spa allows the potential for an expansive learning journey with the plants and minerals of this area.

Rugs

In addition to plant medicine, April lends her hands to threads. Contact April for custom orders on rugs, available at the Spa and at the local wool store.

Tyler Dunbar

Tyler compliments the concept of the Plant Spa with his druid style skills with wood and knowledge base of building and designing interior and exterior spaces. He came to Taos as a student of the EarthShip Academy, where much of his present inspirations still draw from the creativity and models for alternative ideas in design and architecture.

Furniture

Tyler, designer and maker behind all the woodwork in the Spa, is available for custom furniture. Contact Tyler to inquire.
